Popular French Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Étienne have released a collector’s edition retro kit inspiring by the shirts that they wore during the mid-1970s.
Well-received by the team’s fans, the new ASSE jersey is called the “Maillot AS Saint-Etienne Manufrance” (AS Saint-Etienne Manufrance Shirt) in reference to the sponsor logo on it (that of now defunct mail order company Manufrance).
The kit is furnished by current and 1970s ASSE technical partner le coq sportif. Its design is based on the jerseys that the team donned from 1974 to 1976. In what was the most successful period of Saint-Etienne’s history, Les Verts (The Greens) won three Ligue 1 and three Coupe de France titles. They also made it to the final of the 1975/76 European Cup (now the UEFA Champions League).
The ASSE 2015 le coq sportif retro shirt uses a slimfit reminiscent of the football kits of the 1970s and has a v-neck collar and sleeve cuffs in the colors of the French national flag. It comes in a mainly white presentation box that bears the le coq logo and red and blue detailing.
