Southampton Football Club have unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2024/25 season, marking their return to the English Premier League. These kits are produced by their new technical partner, PUMA, and will be worn by the team in their Premier League, EFL Cup, and FA Cup campaigns.
The designs for both kits draw inspiration from Southampton’s rich naval history, specifically featuring a “razzle dazzle” pattern, a type of ship camouflage used during World War I.
The Southampton FC home shirt for the 2024/25 season brings back the iconic red and white stripes, a staple for Southampton FC. This season’s version includes a subtle razzle dazzle design on the sleeves and back, adding a modern twist to the classic look.
The design not only pays homage to the naval camouflage used on HMS Southampton but also ensures each shirt is unique, minimizing material waste. The shirt is complemented by a black crew neck collar and black trim on the sleeves, paired with black shorts and white socks featuring red accents.
The Southampton 24/25 PUMA away jersey also incorporates the razzle dazzle design, but with a bold and vibrant color scheme. The shirt features a bright fizzy yellow and a darker yellow sizzle pattern on both the front and sleeves. This striking design is completed with a navy crew neck collar and navy sleeve trims, creating a visually appealing contrast. The kit is finished off with navy shorts and yellow socks, accented with navy details to maintain a cohesive and dynamic look.
Southampton’s choice of a razzle dazzle design is a nod to their naval heritage and the artist Jan Gordon, who was instrumental in creating the original camouflage patterns. This connection to history is intended to evoke a sense of pride and tradition among the fans and players.
