Review: Little Athletes, Big Leaders

We recently had the pleasure of reading a wonderful piece of sports literature called Little Athletes, Big Leaders from three-time CFL Alll Star Bruce Beaton. When I was asked to review the book Little Athletes, Big Leaders, I put on my “Tiger Mom” hat and pulled out my notebook to write down the key items to ensure that my child was going to be super star athlete. After all, this is written by a three time Canadian Football League All-Star. I was anxious and hopeful to receive the “insider” information to start my child on the path of success to be an All-Star. As I read through the book, I noticed myself shaking my head in agreement, pulling out my highlighter and marking pages. I even started following my husband around the house, saying things like “Did you know that every time you give your child one criticism you need to preface it with 4 compliments”. We even discussed how we could apply the items in the book to our everyday life, when interacting with co-workers and clients. I truly enjoyed that at the end of each chapter there were Action Steps for the parents to complete to help them define goals, challenges and basically write out the steps to help the PARENT become a better person, which will ultimately make the child a better person!

There are so many wonderful, insightful examples that I could list, but honestly there are just too many. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to review this book as I know it is something that will not only impact how I raise my child, but also how I interact with everyone that touches my life! I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to be a fabulous parent, manager, or friend. It is a life changer!
