Pelé Sports Spring /Summer 2011 Preview

Hot new soccer gear brand Pelé Sports follows 2010’s massive product launch with a fresh set of clothing for 2011. On its way to soccer retailers and e-tailers near you, the Pelé Sports Spring / Summer 2011 collection features several innovative designs that are sure to catch the eye on and off the pitch.

We’ve had a chance to have a first-hand look at a couple of Pelé Sports’ new 2011 tops – the 1283 Gameday Jersey and Side Vent Sweatshirt.

1283 Gameday Jersey
Named after the 1,283 goals that Pele scored as a professional player, this jersey features one of the best playing shirt designs that we’ve seen thus far for the new kit season. While it is currently not in use by any professional team, the 1283 Gameday Jersey would certainly be right and home and stand out on the field in any one of Europe’s big leagues.

Featuring the latest in sports fabric technology, the 1283 Gameday Jersey is extremely lightweight and comfortable. While wearing it in an indoor kickaround, our tester lauded how well the jersey pulled sweat from the skin. He also said that sweat evaporated from the shirt very quickly.

The design of the Pelé Sports 1283 Gameday Jersey used a retro ringer look similar to that of the Brazil kits of the 1950s to 1970s (when Pelé led the Seleção to three World Cup titles). Add in some high quality Futsal-inspired graphic in the chest area and a unique lower panel featuring Pelé Sports’ “1283” pattern meant to symbolize Pele’s 1,283 goals and you’ve got a work of soccer art!

Side Vent Sweatshirt
Heading into Spring 2011, the weather can be erratic. Hence sweatshirts become regular attire on and off the soccer field. Enter the Pelé Sports Side Vent Sweatshirt!

Not your standard sweatshirt, the Side Vent Sweatshirt is made up super soft quality cotton-polyester blend that feels great on the skin. It is also not heavy at all and indeed is reminiscent of the classic style t-shirts used as soccer kits before the age of polyester. Thus we think that this would be an excellent training, warm-up and post-game top for soccer players in cooler climes.

What is really inventive about the Pelé Sports Side Vent Sweatshirt are its zippered sides. As the name of the shirt indicates, they can zip down to form a vent! Need to cool down after a runout? Then zip one or both sides open to let air circulate to your torso. You can even undo the velcro snaps at the bottom of each zipper to separate the front and back panels of the shirt. We’ve never seen anything like this before!

Here are a few more detailed pictures of the Pelé Sports 1283 Gameday Jersey and Side Vent Sweatshirt. Both will be available in the coming weeks at the World Soccer Shop Pelé Sports Store.
