Video: New York Red Bulls Beat Santos FC 3-1 to Open Red Bull Arena

[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/New_York_Red_Bulls_Beat_Santos_FC_3_1_to_Open_Red_Bull_Arena]The New York Red Bulls defeated an experimental Santos FC (of Brazil) 3-1 in front of a sold-out crowd yesterday to open the new crown jewel of American soccer stadiums – Red Bull Arena.

Estonian international Joel Lindpere opened the scoring for New York  in the 10th with a one-time rebound off his own free kick from just outside the penalty box.

Red Bulls captain Mike Petke doubled the lead in the 43rd minute in a goal-front scramble following a corner kick from Welsh international Carl Robinson.

Jamaican Dane Richards completed the scoring for the hosts on a Mac Kandji assist towards the end of the first half.

Germano got a consolation goal for Santos with in second half stoppage time.

The Red Bulls open league play in their new home against the Chicago Fire on March 27.
