Daniel Patrick, former athlete and now fashion designer, has collaborated with New York Red Bulls’ for the club’s 2023 adidas away jersey. The new kit is the first Major League Soccer shirt to be created by a fashion designer.
With New York City at the heart of the collaboration, as one of Daniel’s favorite cities that he often pulls inspiration from and home of the New York Red Bulls, the teams landed on a tie dye print to symbolize the constant motion and energy of the city.
Building off the ode to the city, Daniel states the color hue is “a subtle nod to New York City cabs albeit in a far more muted tone to be more appealing aesthetically…then to finish it off a signature jock tag with the coordinates of the center circle of Red Bull arena.”
When creating the New York Red Bulls 2023 alternate jersey, Daniel Patrick wanted to create something that fit the brand’s DNA in terms of color and details in an elevated model to “make it equally as appealing to wear on the field as well as off it,” says Patrick.
“This has been an exciting project to work on, especially with someone I view as one of my idols,” commented New York Red Bulls Art Director Kevin Maulbeck. “Many years ago, I use to skate past Daniel Patrick’s store in SoHo and when I got the chance to work with him, it was a dream come true and it has been an amazing process to create this kit.”
