Canada Soccer and Umbro today presented the home kit that will be worn by the Canadian national teams during the 2015/16 international football season. It will be first choice uniform of the Canada senior women’s national team when they host the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The men’s team will wear the new kit during their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this year. It is now available for purchase at World Soccer Shop.
Rekeased using the theme #CanadaRED, the Canada 2015/16 Umbro home jersey is in the traditional primary red of the country’s national teams. It has a classic v-neck look with a series of subtle diagonal lines forming a gradient pattern across its chest. A Canadian flag is embroidered on the outside back of the shirt’s neck while the Canadian national anthem soundwave appears on the lower hip.
The new Canadian soccer jersey is the first to have a custom font for lettering and numbering. According to Canada Soccer it is inspired by the “True North” that Canada prides itself in being on the North American continent. The CSA says that “each character is shaped to symbolize the strength of ice that is precisely chiseled to bring its beauty to light. The type face, aptly named “Les Rouges”, embodies the determination and resilience Canada’s National Teams demonstrate each time they step on the pitch and is the perfect complement to this new 2015 kit.”
