James Troisi’s 105th minute goal gave hosts Australia a 2-1 win over Korea Republic in the final of the AFC Asian Cup Australia on Saturday.
Socceroos tournament standout Massimo Luongo put Australia ahead in the 44th minute before Bayer Leverkusen’s Son Heung-min scored a stoppage time equalizer for the Koreans.
The win sees Australia earn their first senior Asian Cup title. The team has been an AFC member since 2006. The Aussies were runners-up in the 2011 edition of the continental championship.
