Joinville Esporte Clube will return to the top-tier of football in Brazil for the first time since 1986 during the upcoming Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season.
Last season’s Série B champions kick off their competitive season with a Campeonato Catarinense match against Avai in the opening round of the 2015 Campeonato Catarinense (Santa Catarina State Championship) at the Arena Joinville on Sunday.
Joinville EC launched their home and away kits for their 2015 campaign earlier this week. Provided by Umbro Brasil, the new jerseys use classic football shirt looks in the primary red and black and alternate white of JEC. Both celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the team winning eight consecutive Campeonato Catarinense titles.
A diamond-shaped printed with the text “Octa Campeonato Catarinense em 1978 até 1985” is printed on the inside neck of the kits in recognition of the achievement. The number eight surrounded by eight stars is printed red area on the middle of the home shirt.
Joinville’s best known alumnus is Brazil and Chelsea FC player Ramires. The midfielder started his professional career with the team when they were in the Brazil third division in 2006.
