Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) technical sponsor AMS recently sent us the Leone Stars 2014/15 away kit from their headquarters in Australia. This is a World Exclusive up-close look at the alternate shirt being worn by the likes of Leicester City’s Alie Sesay and Bolton’s Medo and their team mates in their quest to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
The Sierra Leone 2014/15 AMS away kit has a simple and highly functionally design highlighted by a traditional and eye-catching West African print throughout. White is used for the Y-neck collar of the kit and for the sleeve cuffs. Other than that, the shirt has no further embellishments. This may be in line with AMS’ (short for African Manufacturing Systems) philosophy of providing lower cost kits to emerging footballing nations with a portion of sales going towards the development of the game in each.
The SLFA and AMS logos are printed on the upper chest area of the new Sierra Leone away jersey instead of them being embroidered. This not only reduces the weight of the kit but ensures that the logos don’t fade. Bigger companies like PUMA and adidas have taken to screen printing branding on player issue or authentic jerseys to shed a few grams off of them. However, the prints fade with time. Therefore we prefer AMS’ approach.
The Sierra Leone 2014/15 AMS home and away kits are now available for purchase at Subside Sports. Click here for our feature on both from back in September when the Leone Stars were first spotted in them.
