English Premier League club Hull City have announced a kit deal with Umbro that will start this summer. The Tigers join French clubs Nantes and RC Lens along with the Premier League’s Everton as recent signings with the UK-based firm. The deal was announced in the 24th minute of Sunday’s 0-3 home loss to Arsenal in a nod to the fact that Umbro was founded in 1924.
The Hull City AFC Umbro deal will commence on June 1st, 2014 and run until the end of the 2018/19 season. It is Hull’s second recent stint with Umbro with a four year spell with adidas in between. The Tigers previous donned the famous diamond from 2007 to 2010.
Former FC Barcelona and Hull City midfielder Geovanni flew in from Brazil and was paraded in front of the club’s fans to celebrate the new partnership. The one-time Brazil international scored the club’s first ever Premier League goal along with a memorable 30-yard stunner against Arsenal in 2008 that saw the club defeat the Gunners at the Emirates.
The Hull City AFC 2014/15 Umbro match kit, training and leisure ranges are expected to be released in June ahead of the team’s pre-season campaign.
