Everton FC Signs Five-Year Kit Deal with Umbro

English Premier League stalwarts Everton Football Club have announced a five-year kit deal with sportswear firm Umbro that begins on June 1, 2014. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Toffees manager Roberto Martinez at Umbro’s headquarters in Manchester.

Everton has had a number of stints with Umbro in the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000’s including a fourteen-year period in the famous diamond from 1986 to 2000. Their most recent spell wearing the Umbro ran from 2004 to 2008. The club has since worn le coq sportif and most recently Nike.

Umbro has stated that the 2014/15 Everton kits will be “smart, modern and importantly, unique” and has referred to the Merseyside team as its “flagship club”.

The Everton sponsorship deal is the biggest for Umbro since being sold to the Iconix Brand Group in late 2012. Since then the brand has lost kit deals with the England and Sweden national teams along with clubs such as Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Lille and Sevilla.
