Mizuno Announces Entrance into USA Soccer Market

Mizuno USA, a world-wide leader in specialty sporting goods, today announced that it will be offering select models of its premium soccer cleat line-up to the American market for the first time. Established globally and a favorite of many top international soccer players, Mizuno soccer cleats carry the Japanese brand’s pedigree of innovative design, premium craftsmanship and superior performance. The Mizuno soccer cleats will be available online only starting December 2013.

The brand’s first introduction to the U.S. soccer player will include the four top Mizuno soccer cleat models for purchase on World Soccer Shop – two exclusive Made in Japan models, Morelia Neo (MIJ) and Morelia II (full leather/MIJ), and the Morelia Neo and Wave Ignitus.

“The decision to enter the U.S. soccer market was spurred by the many inquiries and requests received from U.S. soccer players who are already aware of the quality and performance of our products and their current use by elite players globally,” said Ahmet Abaci, VP of Brand Marketing and Management, Mizuno USA.

“With consumer attention focused on soccer in the coming months, it was the right time to bring American soccer players the same quality, innovative product we’ve been offering to other sports, like baseball, running and golf, for many years.”

To support the U.S. introduction, Mizuno has partnered with the local professional soccer franchise, the Atlanta Silverbacks FC of the North American Soccer League (NASL), since early 2013 to capture player feedback on wear-testing and the cleat’s overall design before release into the U.S. market.

Leading up to the NASL Championship, the 2013 Soccer Bowl, Mizuno signed on as the “Official Cleat of the Silverbacks” and will provide all eligible players the newest colorways available next month for the championship. As the official cleat of the team, Mizuno is proud to support the Silverbacks in its quest to win the 2013 NASL Championship.
