Team scarves are as much a part of football culture as kits and other apparel representing the clubs of our choice. However, high-quality footie scarves are hard to come by. Enter the team at Appleberry!

Appleberry Football Scarf

Over the past few years, the Chester, UK-based company has been producing hand-made, 100% wool premium grade football inspired scarves in classic, timeless styles. Apart from the high-quality of their products, what sets Appleberry above other sport scarf makers is that they use no faddish or outlandish graphics that render the scarves embarrassingly unstylish to wear outside the terraces. There are also no blatant manufacturer logos that, in many cases, result in much higher price points for inferior products.

Here is a world exclusive up-close look at a couple of Appleberry’s 2013 scarves along with details on their inspiration from the company. The dark blue and white scarf is ideal for supports of Tottenham and West Brom while the claret and sky blue scarf can be worn with pride by Aston Villa, West Ham and Burnley lovers. We found them to be of the utmost quality and similar to products that would cost at least twice as much at high-end department stores. At almost 6 feet in length each, Appleberry’s scraves can be worn in a multitude of ways from the Roberto Mancini look to the a wind-protecting wraparound fashion. These will definitely keep you warm, comfortable and looking good at a match and beyond during the Autumn and Winter of 2013/14.

We came up with the idea simply because we wanted a stylish way to wear our team colours, we couldn’t find anything so decided to create something ourselves. We settled on the college-scarf because we loved the clean and elegant look.

The origins of the college-scarf go back to Britain in the late 1930s. The neat vertically-striped scarves were initially produced for the colleges and sports clubs of Cambridge University and soon became popular with other top universities in Britain and the rest of the world.

Inevitably the college-scarf was soon adopted into British youth culture. In the 1950s, London beatniks starting wearing the college-scarf and it was later embraced en-masse by the British mod fraternity. These days it is worn by people of great taste the world over.

The Appleberry scarf is handmade in England using the same traditional methods and materials as were first used back in the 1930s. Pure 100% Saxony-wool fabric is expertly hand-cut and the contrasting stripes are sewn together by highly-skilled seamstresses (not robots) before the completed scarf is finished, pressed and packaged – all by hand.

The Appleberry scarf allows the wearer to show pride in their football team in an understated and classically British style. It’s totally free of club badges and sponsors and manufacturers logos and looks as good on your way to the pub or the office as it does at the match.
