The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2010 kicked off on Sunday in the twin island Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Surprisingly absent from the competition is women’s soccer powerhouse USA (a result of their penalty kick loss to Canada in the CONCACAF qualification round of the World Cup). Nevertheless, there are several United States born and / or resident players partaking in the tournament including Trinidad and Tobago captain Lauren Schmidt and no less than eight members of the Mexico squad. Here’s a list of them along with their often well-known youth clubs.
