Defending Primera División champions Club Universidad de Chile 2018 home kit was revealed on Monday night via a Facebook Live stream. The new “La U” introduces a brand new design from club technical partner adidas that may be used for some of the firm’s 2018 FIFA World Cup shirts.
Modeled by Universidad de Chile players Johnny Herrera, Matías Rodríguez y Felipe Seymour, the new kit is inspired by the shirt worn by the club during their 1994 to 1995 title winning season. It was released using the hashtag #MasAzulQueNunca in reference to the use of a darker tone of blue than that featured on recent La U kits.
The new kit has a navy blue ribbed rounded neckline that is trimmed in white. White adidas stripes run along the shoulders but not the sleeve of the jersey. This may become a common feature of 2017/18 adidas shirts given the increasing presence of sleeve sponsors among big club sides.
A series of dark blue lines run along the front and back of the kit. Their width varies in select areas to produce a subtle checkers. Blue shorts and socks detailed with white complete the Club Universidad de Chile 2018 adidas primary uniform.
