The FIFA World Club Cup Japan 2012 kicks off on Thursday with Japanese J. League Division 1 champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima meeting 2011 OFC Champions League winners Auckland City FC.
Next week 2011/12 UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea FC and Copa Libertadores champions Corinthians Paulista enter the competition at the semi-final stage.
While the final is usually a clash between the European and South American champions, Congo DR’s TP Mazembe shocked Brazil’s Internacional 2-0 in the semis of the 2010 cup before falling to Inter Milan in the final.
