Arsenal came from a goal down at half time to defeat Chelsea 5-3 in their English Premier League meeting at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea went up 1-0 via a Frank Lampard header after 14 minutes before Gunners captain Van Persie equalized in the 36th minute. Chelsea skipper John Terry took advantage of the shaky Arsenal defending that punctuated the first half to put his side 2-1 just before half time.
Full back Andre Santos notched Arsenal’s second equalizer after 49 minutes. Theo Walcott’s fine solo goal gave Arsenal a 3-2 lead after 55 minutes.
Juan Mata’s long range swerving effort made matters 3-3 after 80 minutes until Van Persie scored two late goals to seal manager Arsene Wenger’s 500th win in charge of Arsenal.
