Arsenal Football Club today released their highly anticipated 2024/25 away kit, marking a significant collaboration between the Gunners, adidas, and British African heritage brand Labrum London. This striking new design celebrates Arsenal’s deep-rooted connection to their African supporters and the rich cultural heritage within both the team and its global fan base.
The Arsenal 2024/25 adidas away jersey’s design draws inspiration from traditional African aesthetics, featuring the iconic pan-African colors of black, red, and green. These bold hues are complemented by a distinctive white zig-zag graphic, crafted by Labrum London’s founder, Foday Dumbuya. This unique pattern serves as a visual representation of the club’s past and present ties to the African diaspora, both in London and across the world.
Arsenal’s relationship with Africa extends far beyond aesthetics, as evidenced by the 23 African national team players who have represented the club’s men’s first team since the 1950s. This long-standing connection has significantly shaped the club’s identity and playing style over the decades, further strengthening the bond between Arsenal and its African supporters.
The collaboration with Labrum London adds an extra layer of authenticity to the kit’s design. By incorporating elements inspired by 1920s African tribal art, the jersey symbolizes freedom, movement, and joy – values that resonate deeply with both the club and its fans. The zig-zag pattern, in particular, creates a dynamic visual effect that captures the energy and excitement of the game.
Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing their team sport this culturally rich away kit throughout the upcoming 2024/25 season. The jersey will be worn during English Premier League matches, as well as in EFL Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League fixtures, ensuring that Arsenal’s celebration of its African heritage will be on display across multiple prestigious competitions.
Foday Dumbuya commented: “As a second-generation immigrant growing up in London, I watched some incredible Arsenal players with African heritage. These players were amazing role models to me, playing the game in a beautiful way, but also representing the wider community that I connect with.
“Arsenal as a club has such a strong connection to this community, so it is an incredibly proud moment for me to have collaborated on this design with them.”
