Football Club de Metz (commonly referred to as simply Metz and FC Metz) is a French soccer club based in Metz. The club was formed in 1932 and currently plays in Ligue 2, the second level of French football.
FC Metz has never won the French championship but did achieve a second-place finish in 1998. The club has also Coupe de France twice, in 1984 and 1988, and the Coupe de la Ligue twice, in 1986 and 1996.
FC Metz also gained recognition in France and Europe for its successful youth academy which produced well-known players such as Robert Pirès, Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor.
