With a scoreline rarely seen in top flight European soccer, Dutch Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven thrashed Feyenoord 10-0 in league action on Sunday. The result condemned the 14-time league champion to its worst defeat in club history.
Brazilian Jonathan Reis hit a hat-trick in the match while Jeremain Lens and Balazs Dzsudzsak each scored two. Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen and Orlando Engelaar got one apiece to complete the rout.
Feyenoord now sits in 15th in the 18-team Dutch Eredivisie with two wins in 10 matches. The club is also heavily in debt and has sold its best players.
The current Feyenoord side is comprised mainly of player’s from the club’s youth academy and captained by 20-year old Leroy Fer.
