Video: U.S. Forward Charlie Davies Seriously Injured in Fatal Car Crash

Standout United States striker Charlie Davies was seriously injured in a car accident in Virginia at 3:15 AM on Tuesday morning.

Davies was a passenger in the vehicle along with accident fatality 22-year-old Ashley Roberta.

Davies, 23, was airlifted to the Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC where he underwent several hours of emergency surgery to repair a broken bones in his right leg and ruptured bladder. He also suffered a broken left elbow and facial fractures in the accident.

After memorable performances during the United States’ run to the final of this summer’s FIFA Confederations Cup, Davies was signed by Sochaux of the French Ligue 1. He has scored four goals in 17 appearances for the USA.
