Wigan Athletic have taken Mido on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season. The move allows Mido to line up as part of an Egyptian double act with compatriot Amr Zaki. He replaces new Aston Villa signing Emile Heskey in the Wigan striker pool. Watson and Rodallaga are permanent signings from Crystal Palace and Mexican club Necaxa respectively.

Dutch international midfielder de Jong signed from German Bundesliga side Hamburg HSV for an undisclosed fee while Bellamy made a reported 14 million pound (15m euros) move to Manchester City on a four-and-a-half year contract from West Ham United.
