The official match ball of the Mexican Primera División or Liga MX Torneo de Clausura 2013 season (the second in the Mexican soccer calendar) was unveiled to the press and public on Monday.
The new ball is provided by the league’s longtime official ball provider Voit and is named the Alpha. It will also be used for Clausura 2013 matches in Mexico’s second tier of soccer, the Ascenso MX.
According to the Liga MX website, the new ball is FIFA approved and made of 28 panels (12 pentagons, 12 gripping panels and 4 hexagons). It features blue and yellow on a white base to maximize visibility in all weather conditions.
