David Beckham returned from a six-month injury layoff during the Los Angeles Galaxy’s 3-1 home win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.
The 35-year old former England captain tore his Achilles tendon in March while playing for AC Milan on loan in an attempt to make the manager Fabio Capello’s’ 2006 FIFA World Cup squad. He entered last night’s game in the 70th minute as a replacement for Brazilian midfielder Juninho.
Edson Buddle, Dema Kovalenko and Jovan Kirovski scored for the Galaxy to maintain the club’s lead in the MLS Western Conference.
Andres Mendoza notched a late goal for the Eastern Conference-leading Crew.
