Birmingham City striker Christian “Chucho” Benitez opened the scoring with a fine solo effort after 40 seconds in Ecuador’s shock 2-1 win over Mexico in a friendly Saturday in Guadalajara last night.

Along with Benitez, Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia featured for Ecuador while teammate Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Tottenham’s Giovanni Dos Santos, Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Fulham’s Carlos Salcido were on the field for Mexico.
