Eight time Dutch champion Sparta Rotterdam are currently campaigning in the second tier of soccer in the country, the Jupiler League. This doesn’t afford them much time in the international limelight. However, on Friday night the Kasteelheren notched an incredible 12-1 victory over Almere City FC in league play. Just as remarkable as the scoreline was the fact that eight of Sparta’s goals came from new signing and journeyman striker Johan Voskamp in his very first game for the club. Needless to say, the 25-year old Dutch player is now the club’s and league’s leading goalscorer two games into the 2010/11 season.
