After being held 0-0 for the first half of their friendly on Sunday, Real Madrid defeated host DC United 3-0 on goals from Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain the 57th and 59th and Dutchman Arjen Robben in the 69th minute.

Record signing Cristiano Ronaldo played in the first half but was kept in check by a tenacious DC United defence.
