Australia Nike World Cup 2010 Away Jersey / Kit

[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/Australia_Nike_World_Cup_2010_Away_Jersey_Kit]The Australia Nike World Cup 2010 away jersey has officially been launched.

After months of design leaks, the new Socceroos away kit was unveiled yesterday at the Nike Write History event in London yesterday along with the uniforms of Nike’s eight other FIFA World Cup 2010 teams. Blackburn Rovers midfielder Vince Grella was on hand to model the new Australian away strip.

The new Australia Nike World Cup 2010 away kit may see action on March 3rd when the Australia faces Indonesia in an Asian Cup qualifier in Brisbane.

According to Nike, their World Cup 2010 kits are the most environmentally-friendly and technologically-advanced kit in football’s history.

For the first time, all of Nike’s national teams, including Brazil, Portugal and The Netherlands, will be wearing jerseys made entirely from recycled polyester, each one produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.

To make the 2010 national team kits, Nike’s fabric suppliers sourced discarded plastic bottles from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites and then melted them down to produce new yarn that was ultimately converted to fabric for the jerseys.

The teams wearing Nike’s new national team jerseys in South Africa are: Brazil, The Netherlands, Portugal, USA, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Serbia, and Slovenia
