Parma Calcio 1913 has released a special edition Black Lives Matter jersey by technical sponsor Erreà. It will be worn for the club’s Italian Serie A match against Sassuolo on Sunday.
Parma Calcio says that “Through this special jersey, the desire is to demonstrate the importance of equality, unity and brotherhood, as we all try to build a world in which every life has the same value, without discrimination.”
Club President Kyle Krause commented: “We all must play our part to fight racism both on the pitch and off. Today, we wear these jerseys to raise our collective voice in the global fight against racism, xenophobia and hate.”
The logos of Parma Calcio 1913 shirt sponsors Cetilar, Old Wild West, Viva La Mamma, Canovi Coperture and Erreà are printed in black on the jersey. “BLACK LIVES MATTER” text is placed on the right sleeve in gold while a raised fist appears on the jersey’s nape in the same color.
Proceeds from the sales of the boxed Parma Calcio 1913 Black Lives Matter kit and match worn jerseys from Sunday’s game will be donated to projects administered by CIAC, Centro Immigrazione Asilo e Cooperazione Onlus (Centre for Immigration, Asylum and International Cooperation), in Parma, and the Lilian Thuram Foundation.
