Manchester United maintained its perfect start to the 2011/12 English Premier League season with a 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
United went up 3-0 in the first half with goals from Chris Smalling, Nani and Wayne Rooney. Fernando Torres replied for the Londoners 30 seconds into the second half and came close to making the score 3-2 after 83 minutes but uncharacteristically missed an unprotected net.
United has now scored 21 goals in its first five league games of the season, all victories. The club’s start to the season is its best since it won 10 straight in at the beginning of the 1985/86 campaign.
