[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/Portsmouth_2_Tottenham_0_English_FA_Cup_Highlights]A day after being relegated from the English Premier League, Portsmouth FC qualified for the final of the 2009/10 English FA Cup via a shock 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Playing a counter-attacking style of football, Portsmouth held Tottenham at bay for 90 minutes to force extra time in the match. Spurs were made to may for not capitalizing on a slew of chances in the 99th minute when Frederic Piquionne pounced on a Michael Dawson defensive error to beat Heurelho Gomes from eight yards out. Former Tottenham man Kevin-Prince Boateng sealed victory for Pompey in the 117th minute from the penalty spot following Wilson Palacios’ pulling down of Aruna Dindane in the box.
Portsmouth will return to Wembley on May 15th for the cup final against Chelsea.
