Sweden’s away kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been officially unveiled by adidas, and it marks a deliberate departure from the national team’s traditional yellow and blue color palette.

The 2026 Swedish away jersey is built entirely around three distinct shades of blue, drawing visual inspiration from the bold, expressive patterns of 1970s sportswear.

The most striking design element is an all-over graphic featuring vertical chain-like wavy patterns that run the length of the shirt, alternating between darker and lighter shades of royal blue. The layered tonal approach gives the jersey considerable visual depth without introducing additional colors, a restrained but effective design choice.

A pale gold V-neckline trim and matching three stripes along the shoulders provide the only contrasting color on the shirt, connecting it to Sweden’s national colors in a subtle rather than dominant way. The word “SVERIGE” appears at the back of the collar in the same gold lettering.

One of the more historically significant details is the return of the adidas Trefoil logo to a Swedish national team shirt for the first time in decades. The Trefoil, associated with adidas Originals and the brand’s heritage aesthetic, sits on the left chest alongside the Swedish Football Association crest.

This pairing reinforces the retro-forward concept driving the kit’s overall design, which adidas describes as balancing nostalgia with contemporary expression. The font used for the “SVERIGE” text on the neck is also noted as a deliberate stylistic addition to that balance.

The Sweden 2026/27 away kit made its competitive debut during a World Cup qualifier playoff match against Ukraine in March, giving it an immediate and meaningful context before the tournament itself. Sweden enters the 2026 FIFA World Cup having been drawn into a group alongside the Netherlands, Japan, and Tunisia, a challenging pool that will test their depth across both home and away fixtures.
