Fédération Congolaise de Football-Association (FECOFA) technical partners O’Neills have released a special edition kit celebrating DR Congo’s 2016 CHAN championship.
The Leopards claimed their second title in the fledgling African Nations Championship (a continental title for African-based players only) earlier this year with a 3-0 win over Mali in its final.
The Democratic Republic of Congo 2016 CHAN Champions kit uses the same crewneck O’Neills design as the team’s 2015/16 home kit (available now at Subside Sports). It has a light blue base with a large leopard head print on its front. A block of red runs across the chest area from the right sleeve. A similar block appears on its lower back. A yellow print reading “CHAMPION CHAN 2016” is printed across the upper back of the jersey. The FECOFA crest is on the right breast of the shirt while th DR Congo flag is embroidered on the left.
Featuring the likes of Yannick Bolasie (Everton FC) and Cédric Bakambu (Villarreal), DR Congo emerged as one of the big winners during this weekend’s African 2018 World Cup qualifiers with a 4-0 win over Libya. The team is looking for their first World Cup appearance since 1974.
