Sacramento Republic 2023 hummel ‘Old Glory’ Kit
To celebrate Sac Soccer Day – the anniversary of when Republic FC’s name and crest were revealed in 2013, the Indomitable Club unveiled the Old Glory Kit – a limited edition 10th season celebration jersey. The Old Glory Kit pays homage to the color that has become intertwined with the club’s identity, as well as the community that has supported the club for a decade.
“Over 10 years, every single Republic FC player, academy member, fan and friend of the club has donned Old Glory Red,” said Republic FC Vice President of Marketing Ben Mayberry. “This is the common thread that has united us since 2014, on and off the pitch, and has seamlessly become a part of the fabric of Sacramento. We only hope to deepen this connection over the next 10 years.”
The club’s name and crest – featuring Old Glory Red – were first introduced on Sacramento Soccer Day – July 18, 2013. The iconic color that has been linked to Republic was pulled directly from the state flag of California, forever tying the club to the state’s rich history. It has become an integral part of the club’s identity, from supporters’ chants and city-wide spirit days, to giving the team one of its most popular nicknames: “The Boys in Old Glory Red.”
A thin, threaded texture on the new kit reflects how Republic FC has woven Old Glory Red into the fabric of our community – from the kits and caps our neighbors wear, to the futsal courts, community projects and soccer fields around the region. As a part of the 10th season celebration, player numbers, names and the kit sponsor – UC Davis Health, the club’s partner for 10 seasons – shift to a metallic sheen, representing tin – the 10th celebration.
“The Boys in Old Glory Red” along the inside collar line is a tribute to the fans who’ve supported the club, chanted and sung throughout the years, and embody the indomitable spirit. Below the neckline on the back, the club’s 10th season commemorative logo serves as a reminder of the journey that the team and community have traveled together since 2014.
Resilient Red – a new color first introduced to the club’s color palate in the 2023 alternate kit – accents on the collar and sleeves, is symbolic of the bright and bold future for Republic FC. Iconic football apparel maker, hummel’s signature chevrons and bumblebee logo decorate the kit.
The sleeve’s 988 patch extends the club’s commitment to spreading awareness for the National Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline in partnership with Western Health Advantage and WellSpace Health. Through the patch, as well as videos, written content, and more, the Republic FC aims to socialize conversations about suicide and mental health concerns and remind the public that there are resources for those in need.
