Among Major League Soccer’s best supported clubs, Portland Timbers dropped their 2018 away kit from MLS technical partner adidas on Tuesday.
The clubs says that the kit was “Designed in partnership with adidas, the 2018 edition includes engineered mesh hoops on the front of the kit that give it a retro look with echos of the club’s earlier eras. On the inside neck tape are the timbers army chant lyrics: “We’ll sing for you Timbers – ‘til you finish the fight”.
The Portland Timbers 2018 away jersey uses a new 1990s-inspired design from adidas that was first seen via the Sweden World Cup home kit. It has a ribbed v-shaped collar reminiscent of the mid-nineties.
It has a white base and is detailed with green side stripes. The green and gold of the Timbers badge appears at the collar and sleeve cuffs.
The look is inspired by the Timbers home shirts of the 1970s when they were an NASL club. “TIMBERS” is screenprinted in green on the kit’s signoff area.
