In a rematch of their July 8th first round meeting, the United Sates again defeated Honduras by a scoreline of 2-0 in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup Semi-Finals. A Clarence Goodson header from a Stuart Holden corner at the end of the first half put the hosts up 1-0. After readily handling a less than potent Honduran attack in the second period, the U.S. sealed their spot in tournament’s final with a Kenny Cooper tap in from a Stuart Holden pass.
The United States will meet arch-rivals Mexico in the Gold Cup Final on Sunday at 3 PM ET in New York.
