Wales (Cymru) has unveiled its 2026/27 SUDU away kit, the team’s new away jersey for the season, built around a design centered on Welsh heritage and craftsmanship. Like the recently released home kit, the Welsh away jersey draws on a bespoke pattern rooted in Welsh textile history, though the two shirts are distinguished by color, detailing, and construction choices unique to each version.
The pattern found across both the 2026/27 home and away kits originates from Welsh tapestry design, drawing on fabrics and archival material held by Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales.
Rather than reproducing a single historic tapestry, the design combines elements from multiple heritage patterns into one new composition. The result is intended as a visual reference to Welsh double cloth weaving, a traditional textile craft associated with Wales, translated into a pattern applied across the kit.
The Cymru 26/27 SUDU away kit’s primary colorway is day lily yellow, referred to in Welsh as Melyn, matching the color of the daffodil, the national flower of Wales. This shade was last used for a Cymru away kit during the 2020-22 kit cycle. The daffodil is associated with resilience, as the flower grows through cold ground during the winter months before blooming. That color choice is carried through a kit designed to be worn in away fixtures.
One design element distinguishes the Wales away jersey from the 2026/28 home kit: a rib knit collar finished with contrast tipping, a detail not present on the home version and presented as this kit’s own point of difference. The kit is completed with Scarab green shorts, finished with day lily yellow piping that connects the shorts to the shirt’s yellow colorway.
The away kit is expected to be worn for the first time in a senior international fixture when the Cymru Men’s National Football Team plays in Portugal this September, at the start of the team’s 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, EURO 2028 qualifying, and international friendly schedule.
