Nike and the Football Association of Finland (Suomen Palloliitto) have released the 2022/23 home and away teams that will be worn by the federation’s men’s and women’s teams.
The kits were unveiled in a launch video starring former and current heroes of Finalnd national teams. Jarmo Heikkinen of YLE’s Open Nature program narrated the video.
The new jerseys are a tribute to Finland and the country’s relationship with nature. It also celebrates the 1,000 national football players who have represented Finland during its 111 years of national team play.
“Finnish jerseys are important symbols for our national team brands and a big part of our football culture. The launch of new jerseys is a significant moment we want to invest in. We wanted to tell you about the sources of inspiration for the jerseys in the form of an impressive and emotional launch video. We hope that the launch and the designs of the jerseys will provoke a lot of discussion,” commented Mikko Laitinen, Marketing Manager of the Finnish Football Association.
The Finland men’s senior national team will debut the 22/23 Nike home kit when it meets Bosnia and Herzegovina in UEFA Nations League action on June 4th.
The UEFA EURO 2022 women’s team will wear the primary uniform for the first time in an international friendly against Japan on June 27th.
The white Finland 2023/23 Nike home jersey’s design is based on the shirt that the Finns wore at UEFA EURO 2020. The cross on the jersey is lightened and does not extend to the sleeves on the new kit.
Finland’s 22/23 away shirt uses the team’s familiar alternate dark blue. A tonal forest design runs across its front in an ode to the Nordic country’s naturescape.
