Manchester City 2017/18 Nike Away Kit

English Premier League title contenders unveiled their 2017/18 Nike away kits at their pre-season training base in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday. It will be worn for the first time when The Citizens meet UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid at the LA Coliseum on Wednesday evening.

While new talent highlights the club’s foray into the California sunshine, Manchester City’s heritage is evident in their 2017/18 kit’s distinctive head-to-toe maroon look. Shades of maroon have recurred throughout the club’s kits over the years. Notably, the 1956 FA Cup Final winning team wore a dark maroon jersey with white pinstripes, and the 1967-68 League title-winning side’s kit incorporated maroon detailing (as alluded to in the 2017/18 home kit).

Tying into the club’s iconic home colors, the 2017/18 away shirt and socks include a trim in Manchester City’s signature blue.

The new Manchester City away kit’s look is duly matched by Nike innovation. Designed for and tested by the world’s leading footballers, AeroSwift kits have engineered knit zones on the shirt that create a subtle geometric pattern and enhance fit for the athlete in motion.

The sides of the kit feature a black stripe with blue underlay that runs the length of the shirt and blue shorts. The stripes maximize ventilation by expanding when the player is in motion. Finally, the City blue-trimmed socks incorporate NikeGrip technology for the ultimate foot-to-boot connection.

Featuring the same performance innovations as the outfield kit, Manchester City’s goalkeeper apparel, as worn by recent arrival Ederson, is made up of green shirt, shorts and socks — traditional colors for a goalkeeper in English football.
