Denmark have qualified a men’s football team for the Olympic Games for the first time since 1992. Their match against Iraq on August 4th will see the Danes return to wearing hummel kits following an extended run with adidas. The Denmark 2016 Rio Olympics hummel home jersey was unveiled on Tuesday as the squad for summer games was named.
The mainly red shirt features a clean design, with subtle references to the Danish flag. At the same time it takes into account Olympics rules for logos and design. This means that the Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU) logo and hummel chevron taping on the sleeve are absent.
“Olympics is a huge event and we are pleased to again be able to stand behind the Danish national team including the Danish Olympic team, which will have their own unique jersey for the occasion”, said Morten Lund, Nordic Marketing Manager from Hummel.
hummel and the DBU signed an eight-year contract that runs until 2024 in January. hummel was the DBU’s technical partner from 1979 to 2004 and outfitted the Denmark team that famously won EURO 1992.
