La Albiceleste (The White and Sky Blue) players Erik Lamela, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Angel Correa and Nicolás Gaitán were models at the official presentation of the Argentina 2016 Copa América Centenario home jersey at an Asociación del Fútbol Argentino press event on Monday.
The latest Argentina shirt is in the world famous sky blue and white stripes of the two-time FIFA World Cup champions. It uses a classic rounded neck look reminiscent of the team’s still popular 1978 kit. The collar and sleeve cuffs on the jersey returns to white from black (last seen in the Argentina 2014 World Cup home kit). In keeping with adidas’ preference for the current football calendar, the bands three stripes run along the shirt’s sides instead of on its sleeves.
A new feature on the Argentina 2016/17 adidas home kit is an insert on the middle of the rear collar in the South America nations national colors.
Team captain Lionel Messi and the rest of the star-studded Argentina men’s senior nation team will debut their 16/17 home kit when they meet Chile in a rematch of the 2015 Copa América Final in Santiago on Thursday. It will also be worn when La Albiceleste host Bolivia in Cordoba five days later.
Unveiled using the theme “Pateá el Tablero” (Kick the Board), the Argentina 2016 Copa América home jersey will be available at World Soccer Shop, Subside Sports, Lovell Soccer, UK Soccer Shop and Kitbag on March 23.
