Five-time MLS Cup finalists New England Revolution have revealed their home kit for their 2016 and 2017 Major League Soccer and US Open Cup seasons. The club will wear their 2015/16 away jersey for a second go around during their 2016 campaign.
Unveiled in full detail during a jersey launch party featuring current Revs players Andrew Farrell, Jordan McCrary, José Gonçalves and Kelyn Rowe , the NE Revolution 2016 home kit is provided by MLS official outfitter adidas. It the dark blue that the club has worn since their first season in 1996.
According to the team’s website, the jersey is inspired by the jackets of the revolutionary war era. A red and white bar design sits prominently at the center.
While honoring the war that gave this team its name, the kit also pays homage to being one of the original ten in the MLS with “1996” sitting on the inside neck insert. Finally, the Flag of England sits proudly on the back neck, which helps tie together both the club and its fans.
