Sport Club Corinthians Paulista unveiled their 2016 Nike away jersey during the celebrations that followed them winning their sixth Campeonato Brasileiro Série A on Thursday night.
For the first time in the team’s history, a Corinthians outfield player shirt will feature horizontal stripes instead of vertical stripes.
The look of the new kit is inspired by the black and white stripes of the São Paulo state flag. The only other time that Corinthians jerseys used horizontal stripes was for some of the team’s goalkeeper strip of the 1980s.
The Corinthians 2016 Nike away kit uses a crewneck design. It has a black based with six white horizontal stripes that running along its front and back. “Poderoso Timão” (Mighty Timão) appears on a background of black and white stripes on the inside neck area. White shorts and black socks complete the new kit.
