Popular German Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen have three alternate kits for their 2015/16 league and DFB-Pokal campaigns.
The range includes Werder Bremen’s 15/6 dark blue away jersey, a white third kit that was Die Grün-Weißen (The Green-Whites) 14/15 away shirt, and a newly released white “Special Event” strip. The Special Event kit will replace the third kit used for the early part of the season.
According to Nike and the four-time Bundesliga champions: The Werder Bremen 2015/16 away uniform also features orange details that connect the design to that of past home kits, which employed the color as a highlight to the club’s traditional green.
The Bremen 15/16 Nike Special Event kit has close ties to its home region. The shirt is in the City of Bremen’s colors of red and white, and features a diagonal sash in red. The key from the city’s coat of arms is also present.
The new kit will get its first run-out in the DFB Cup tie against 1. FC Köln on Wednesday, 28th October.
“Our first cup home game in five years is the perfect opportunity to debut the new alternate kit,” said Petra Stelljes, chief executive of the Werder fan service. It’s not to be a one-off appearance though.
“This alternate kit will also be our Christmas kit on the final Bundesliga home matchday of the year. Curiously, that will also be against Köln in mid-December. The Werder fan service team obviously have their fingers crossed that the players can get two wins from those two games.”
The Werder Bremen 2015/16 Special Event strip will also feature in Bundesliga games where the darker colours of the green and white home kit and the navy and orange away kit both clash with the opponents.
The club’s initials, SVW, appear on the back of the Werder Bremen home and away 2015/16 shirts. SVW stands for Sportverein Werder Bremen (Sports Club Werder Bremen). All four kits will be available at World Soccer Shop, Kitbag, UK Soccer Shop and Subside Sports.
