In the headlines for signing Argentina international Ezequiel Garay last week and now managed by former FC Porto, Chelsea and Spurs boss André Villas-Boas, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg kicked off their pre-season with a 1-0 win over Germany’s Karlsruher SC on Sunday.
Last season’s Russian Premier League runners-ups debut their 2014/15 Nike home kit during the match. The all blue strip was unveiled along with the Zenit Saint Petersburg 14/15 away uniform earlier in the day.
According to the club’s website: The new home jersey is dominated by a marine blue color, while the away kit, as is traditional, is white. The new away kit has a contrasting stripe, similar to the belt that decorated the army uniforms of Peter the Great’s army.
The shorts of the home jersey are marine blue, while the socks are marine blue with a dark blue stripe in back. The shorts in the away kit have a thin lazer blue stripe on either side. The new away socks are white with a lazer blue stripe on the top, and a combination of diagonal tonal stripes in back.
The Zenit jerseys have a long cut, while the high cuffs on the sleeves are extremely stylish. The internal side of the collar in each of the two kits has “Our Name is Zenit” stitched in.
The new kits combine Nike’s corporate technologies and innovations and were designed with the environment in mind – as before, recycled plastic bottles were used to produce the kits. Both will be available at World Soccer Shop, Subside Sports, UK Soccer Shop and Kitbag.
