Spain Start 2014 World Cup in White adidas Third Kit

Defending world and European champions Spain debuted a mainly white adidas third kit during their opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Friday.

The new uniform was developed by adidas at the request of FIFA because football’s governing body did not believe that neither the Spain 2014/15 home and away kits offered enough of a contrast with the 2014 World Cup home or away kits of opponents Netherlands.

The Spain 2014 World Cup adidas third shirt uses the same design as La Furia Roja’s (The Red Fury’s) new home shirt. It is highlighted by a crewneck collar and tonal stripes on its front and back.Its adidas branding is all red along with two white stripes running down each of its sides. The FIFA World Cup champions badge is embroidered on the right breast of the kit.

Spain suffered a shock 5-1 loss to the rampant Dutch in Friday’s meeting. Captain Iker Casillas and his team will look to rebound against Chile on Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro.
