Founded in 1964 as a merger of two local Brøndby clubs, Brøndby IF has won 10 national Danish football championship titles and five national Danish Cups since joining the Danish top-flight football league in 1981.
It has also featured a host of Denmark internationals including Michael Laudrup, Brian Laudrup, Peter Schmeichel, Ebbe Sand and Daniel Agger.
This weekend, the Brøndby IF Hummel 2012/13 home kit was launched. Its design was inspired by the club’s the championship jerseys from the 1987, 1990 and 1991 season when Hummel was also the club’s technical sponsor.
The new jersey features an updated new version of the classic satin / nylon shorts from the late ’80s and early ’90s. The material is now softer than in the past and the kit’s fit has been optimized so that it is more comfortable to wear.
The inspiration from the old championship jerseys resulted in the Hummel-angles being woven into the kit fabric. The collar is removed to give a more clean, contemporary look, while the edge is two-tone.
To recognize the club’s founding the numbers “1964” are embroidered on the outer back of the neckline.
Finally, in support of Hummel’s “Change The World Through Sports” campaign, the program’s logo is printed on the inner neck area of the new Brøndby IF home jersey.
