Following the February launch of its new away kit, the Oranje technical sponsor Nike has unveiled the Netherlands EURO 2012 home kit (available now at World Soccer Shop). It will be Holland’s first choice uniform during the 2012/13 international season and will make its debut during the Dutch’s next home friendly ahead of the European championships.
Currently ranked fourth in the world bu FIFA, the Netherlands were 2010 FIFA World Cup finalists and are amongst the favorites to triumph at EURO 2012 in Poland / Ukraine this summer. The team is pooled with Germany, Portugal and Denmark in one of the more difficult of the competition’s four groups, Group B.
According to the KNVB website (translated from Dutch): The traditional orange color of the shirt is adorned with dark orange prints at the top left and bottom right. This refers to the sash on the first Dutch national team shirt in 1904. In addition, this suggests that the design is inspired by Dutch abstract and unconventional designs and art.
The combination of all these elements gives the new home kit is a unique and striking effect. Like the shirt are the orange pants and socks. This gives the whole outfit a strong, clear and unmistakable Dutch flavour.
Like the away shirt is also in the collar of the shirt at home the text “New Masters”. This refers to the creativity and craftsmanship of the famous Dutch artists of the 17th century, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer and the potential of the current Dutch team.
