Following last week’s preview, the Oranje technical sponsor Nike has unveiled the Netherlands EURO 2012 away kit (now available at World Soccer Shop.). It will be Holland’s road uniform during the 2012/13 international season and will make its debut when the Dutch meet England in friendly action on February 29th at Wembley.
According to Nike: The Netherlands’s new Away National Team Kit represents the inherent style and authority of Dutch football in a sophisticated new black design.
The sharp black of the new away jersey denotes both authority and a lethal approach to the game. It’s augmented with a striking orange panel from the home shirt on the right side from the shoulder to the torso.
In line with Nike’s commitment to superior athletic performance and lower environmental impact, the fabric of the new kit’s shorts is made with 100% recycled polyester, while the fabric of the shirts is made with at least 96% recycled polyester. Each kit is made using an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles.
The fabric is also up to 23% lighter than the version four years ago. Embedded with Nike Dri-FIT technology, the kits help to regulate players temperatures on the pitch by removing sweat from the body to keep them dry and cool faster than ever before.
Laser-cut ventilation on the shirt promotes localised cooling where athletes need it most to remain focused on the game.
A new double knit structure and yarns also makes this kit 20% stronger, with no compromise to fit and feel and natural cotton added for comfort.
Inside the neck, a graphic “Nieuwe Meesters” (“New Masters”) pays homage to the creativity and craft of renowned Dutch artists of the 17th century such as Rembrandt and Vermeer while also celebrating the talent and potential of the current Dutch team.
The away shorts are black, while the new away socks, now with improved cushioning for greater comfort, movement and protection, are also black, giving the kit a bold appearance.
